Deactivating a license on a machine

smithw8
I'm getting rid of one of my old computers and want to move my FEATool license to a new machine. How do I deactivate the license from the old machine and activate on the new machine?

If you still have access to your old machine you can use the "Deactivate License..." option from the "Help" menu of the toolbox GUI

https://featool.com/doc/quickstart#install_unreg

Or, if you cannot access your machine anymore please get in touch the contact form and select the "Licesing issue" from the subject options, provide the license id/email information and we will deactivate it manually.

I have exactly this issue. I just updated my workstation to Debian 13 'Trixie'. I am attempting to install the same FEATool software on the same machine, just with a newer OS. I only have one machine and FEATool is only installed on it with the Debian OS.

However, I did not know I needed to deactivate the FEATool license on the previous installation before wiping out the old OS until I attempted to install it on the same machine with the new OS. I should have read the Quick Start guide all the way to the end.

I will have to contact support to deactivate the old license(s).

Maybe the app needs a large red flag on the UI to remind people to manually manage the license prior to changing OS, etc. However, that won't help in the case of an OS crash/wipe-out.
