material balance for a compound with complexes

James
Hi FEATool team,

Supposing I have a compound A (initial concentration CA0), which has two complexes AB, AC after reactions,  can FEATool keep the material balance for A (i.e. C(A) + C(AB) + C(AC) = constant CA0) with time and space? Which FEATool version can do it and could you provide a simple example?

Thanks,

Hi James,

Due to how the finite element method works, implementing such algebraic constraints only naturally comes in in the form of integral constraints (https://featool.com/doc/physics#eqn_bdr_int_constr), that is the constraint is only applied in a integral sense (for any specific point it might not apply, as such pointwise constraints would be difficult to implement).
