[new user] installation on Ubuntu 25.4

metatru
With apologies for incompetence-ignorance:

installer happily downloaded to Downloads
give permission to run as executable
 ./FEATools****.install
terminal reports 'Installing...'
BUT after a few seconds: 'Finished'
with no apparent installation or request for an installation location.
I also tried after shifting the installer to a different location - same result

I'd be grateful for any hints!

We typically run, test, and recommend Ubuntu LTS versions (currently 24.04) so it could be something with Ubuntu 25.04 or your specific system/setup. Unfortunately we had issues installing Ubuntu 25.04 in our VMs so can't test it at the moment.

Assuming it has installed it should by default have created a "~/local" folder with the subfolders "MATLAB" and "Precise_Simulation", so you can start the toolbox with the command:

    ~/local/Precise_Simulation/FEATool_Multiphysics/application/run_FEATool_Multiphysics.sh local/MATLAB/MATLAB_Runtime/v97/

Thank you!
Works happily under 24.4.
Will future compatibility with 25.10 be noted on the download page?

Thanks for checking back and reporting that it works under 24.4. Once we've figured out what is going on we will note it (seems maybe something has changed in Ubuntu 25.x). However, 25.10 is not a long term supported (LTS) version so we will probably not recommend a new version until the next LTS (I believe 26.04).
