Quad Mesh and Tri Mesh give totally Different Results
This post was updated on .
I've been playing around with grid refinement and grid generation within FEATool and ran into an interesting issue. I did a 2D conduction problem with symmetry along the x-axis and the y-axis, and a convective BC on the inner tube wall. The results are totally different. The tri-mesh looks to be at least mostly correct while the quad-mesh results look totally wrong. The only difference in the setups is in the meshing.

Hi, thanks for submitting the issue report.
I have tried to replicate the issue but did not notice any difference whether using triangular or quadrilateral mesh element types.
Can you attach a minimal model or example file that demonstrates the issue? As simple as a model seems to be, it is usually quite hard to get everything the same from just a partial text description (missing BCs, equation coefficients, element types, solver settings and so on).
