Error meshing STEP geometry converted from STL file

Submitted Questions
For the files we have tested, which were not working, we converted .stl file to .step and these were working one year ago. Now, the import is working, but the grid generation is not working anymore.

Edit: From FEATool Multiphysics v1.14.1 (and CFDTool v1.7.1) the newly introduced "Robust" grid generation option allows for most "difficult" 3D geometries to mesh successfully.

Direct conversion of STL to STEP format is not recommended as it generally does not reconstruct an accurate boundary representation. STL to STEP conversion typically just glues the facets/triangles together and therefore does not improve the accuracy much if at all.

If possible, it would be far better to go back to to the CAD file source before the generation of STL data and save that as STEP file directly (without an intermediate STL file step).
